Eating Up Social Media Benefits

Social Media Rated by Industry

Which industry do you feel ranks highest in relevance and online presence when it comes to social media? That is not only a difficult question to ask, but a difficult question to answer as well. From fashion to news broadcasting and events, the usage of social media serves its purpose in efforts to projecting interest, trending topics, and etc. It all boils down to what “The People” want to read, see, and listen to. All links that contain audio, text, and image content are connected to each and every online social media network today. If it isn’t interesting or relevant to your target audience, it simply will not survive in such a competitive market. The recent thought I’ve come down to, is what industry actually benefits the most from these social avenues.

While researching this, I wasn’t able to locate a concise study determining the answer to my question so I decided to summarize a search I created (quickly completed but nonetheless, it identifies the basics). After sifting the most popular channels which include Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Yahoo, Instagram, and Google+ (just to name a few) this is what I concluded:

Top 5 Most Popular Social Media Trends by IndustryFame- Celebrities, Popular Events, Popular Fashion, and Tabloid News.

  1. Fame- Celebrities, Popular Events, Popular Fashion, and Tabloid News.
  2. Technology- Electronics, New Software, the Latest Models of Popular Devices.
  3. Politics- Political Candidates, Political Events, Tabloid News, Laws, National and Local Events.
  4. Music- Most Relevant Artist/Song/Album, Concerts, Popular Musical Figures and Related Events.

These five industries have the most frequent searches, posts, tweets, links, and comments in the social media world. Whether you are into the recent presidential election or checking into Foursquare via your mobile device, each of these industries seems to benefit highly in this area. Customer/consumer outreach and interaction is very important within branding and online marketing. There are other websites inquiring and completing the same research in a more thorough fashion. For instance, I stumbled upon Ranking the Brands, and their categories go into a very detailed description of this. Where does your industry stand? What are your thoughts on my Top 5 list? We would love to hear your opinion.
